'The five Herculean works of the new Commission’ focusses primarily on expectations of citizens, and the tasks of a ‘Europe that protects’, such as managing the risks of climate change, enhancing competitiveness and re-defining competition policy, a fair and feasible Social Union, research and innovation to keep the EU at the forefront of knowledge creation, and proposals to strengthen and innovate EU governance - notably looking for innovative solutions at the dawn of the new digital era.
